Hero Armor: A Nice Vanity Set to Look Like Link

Matt

Are you a Legend of Zelda's franchise fan? You will love this article as it's a showcase about the Hero Armor in Terraria which will transform you into Link!

Overview

The Hero Armor is a set of vanity items (vanity items are items used only to change appearance, they don’t give any stats or effects). The set is composed of the Hero’s Hat, the Hero’s Shirt, and the Hero’s Pants.

The set’s color is green on all versions except on the Old-gen console version and Windows Phone version as it’s purple on these versions.

You can craft one piece of the set with 20 Silks and 3 Green Threads (on 3DS, Old-gen console, and Windows Phone it requires 3 Purple Threads instead). It means crafting a full set requires 60 Silks and 9 Green Threads, so 420 Cobwebs and 27 Jungle Grass Seeds (or Mushroom Grass Seeds on the versions requiring Purple Threads).

Get the Hero Armor easily

To get the Hero Armor, you need to farm a lot of Cobwebs and Jungle/Mushroom Grass Seeds. Gratefully, we have some tips to help you farm these resources.

To get a lot of Cobwebs, you can just explore the Underground as it is populated with a lot of Cobwebs alongside the edges of walls and ceilings. You will find them in clusters of 5 or more. Another way to get a lot of Cobwebs is to go to Spider Caves. Here you will find large quantities of Cobwebs but they don’t drop every time you break them. There is only a 25% chance to drop when broken but as there are a lot of Cobwebs it’s not a problem. Just be careful because enemies found here can be dangerous (Wall Creepers in pre-hardmode and Black Recluses in hardmode).

Once you get Cobwebs, you will have to farm seeds. Jungle Grass Seeds have a 1% chance to drop when you cut any plant growing on Jungle Grass. You can try to go to the Jungle and cut every plant you come across using any tool, but you won’t get a lot of Jungle Grass Seeds. The fastest way is to use Flower Boots (you can find these boots in Jungle Shrine chests) so that plants keep growing around you and you can cut them indefinitely until you get your seeds.

If you’re playing on the Old-gen console version or Windows Phone version you will have to farm Mushroom Grass Seeds instead of Jungle Grass Seeds. To get these seeds, you have to harvest Glowing Mushrooms. Every Glowing Mushroom harvested has a 2% chance to drop a Jungle Mushroom Seed. Another way to get Jungle Mushroom Seeds is to build a house in a Glowing Mushroom Biome and to install the Dryad here because she sells Glowing Mushroom Seeds when you speak to her in this biome.

You can’t use the Flower Boots trick for Mushroom Grass Seeds farming because they don’t make Glowing Mushroom spawn.

Trivia

  • The Hero Armor is a reference to the Legend of Zelda’s video game franchise protagonist, Link.
  • There are not a lot of sets in the game that seems to change the player’s hairstyle. The Hero Armor is one of them, along with the Robot Hat and the Lamia Mask.
  • There is also the Hero Shield in Terraria, but it is not part of the Hero Armor and it has nothing to do with Link. It’s just a post-Plantera accessory giving some bonuses.
