Everything you need to know

General Information

The Bananarang is a type of thrown melee weapon that returns to the player after damaging an enemy (non-piercing), traveling for 33 tiles away, or hitting a solid object. The Bananarang can spawn up to ten bananas and is capable of autofire.

In desktop, mobile, console, the Bananarang cannot be stacked but can still be quickly fired. In 3DS, old-gen consoles, up to ten bananas can be stacked in a slot, allowing all Bananarangs to be thrown simultaneously.

When normally used, the Bananarang will not emit light. It also phases through any type of block when returning to the user. The Bananarang can also squeeze through one-block-wide gaps at the right range. When used on liquids, the Bananarang’s travel speed and range drastically decrease.

The Bananarang is often comparable to the Light Disc in terms of functionality, save for the former’s lack of ricocheting off blocks and emitting light, albeit the latter has fewer projectiles.

In 3DS, old-gen consoles, the Bananarang can have more projectiles fired at once because of the stack size and high use time. However, it lacks autofire in old-gen consoles.

It is a general rule to aim above enemies for unlimited piercing when using the Bananarang. This unique property is possible thanks to all Boomerang’s capability of phasing through walls. One can easily handle a wave of slightly strong enemies and deal decent knockback with the Bananarang.

At the right range, enemies will receive two consecutive damage as the Bananarang goes to the target and back to the player. Damaging enemies on both ends of a wall is also possible when executed at the right position and range. This unique property makes the Bananarang pass through walls unhinged while keeping hostiles at bay.

Since the Bananarang is a melee weapon, some accessories, all flasks, and armor can enhance its travel range, flight speed, and apply flask-related buffs.

Among all Boomerangs, the Bananarang has the fastest use time.

In a more extensive combat application, using the Bananarang on early to mid-Hardmode is excellent (especially against large groups and flying enemies) because of the autofire.

The player should save resources instead of using Adamantite and Titanium weapons since the Bananarang is a superior choice.

The Bananarang is best modified with Godly or Demonic, providing a wide array of stats improvement (desktop, mobile, console). The same cannot be done in 3DS, old-gen consoles.
