Terraria (Wiki): Ebonwood Sword
Everything you need to know
General Information
The Ebonwood Sword is a melee weapon that pierces enemies and is a Corruption-exclusive sword.
The Ebonwood Sword is an alternative version of the Wooden Sword. It performs the same functions as its Crimson counterpart, the Shadewood Sword. An Ebonwood Sword cannot autoswing. Its attack reaches two tiles in radius. At an optimal distance, the Ebonwood Sword can pierce two enemies. However, multiple bodies will be damaged should they all line up for the player.
When normally used, the Ebonwood Sword will not emit light, and attacks do not go through walls. It deals slightly more damage and moves slightly faster compared to the Wooden Sword.
Combat-wise, the Ebonwood Sword can be helpful early on because it is stronger than other wooden swords, making it effective against early-game enemies with low health. All Flask items will imbue their unique effects since the Ebonwood Sword is a melee weapon.
The Ebonwood Sword is best modified with Legendary for overall stats improvement.
Strengths & Weaknesses of the Ebonwood Sword
Strengths
- Perfect against small groups of enemies.
- Offers the 2nd highest base damage among all Pre-Hardmode Wood Swords.
Weaknesses
- Tricky and risky to obtain for Pre-Hardmode players.
- Better melee weapons exist for waves of enemies.
How to get the Ebonwood Sword
At a Workbench, craft Ebonwood (7) to create an Ebonwood Sword. Only worlds that are generated with Corruption have access to the Ebonwood Sword. If one has a Crimson world, they can either import a sword from a Corruption world or make an artificial Corruption to obtain the sword. The players should exercise caution because Corruption is a very dangerous place for players to be in their early stages. It can be crafted as early as Pre-Hardmode.
