Terraria (Wiki): Clinger Staff

The Clinger Staff is a magic weapon that summons a 15-tile high wall of Cursed Flame for 5m, deals contact damage, and applies the Cursed Inferno debuff to an enemy. When used beyond a solid wall, the Clinger Staff will not summon the Cursed Flame Wall but still consumes mana. Note that the magic weapon does not work on angled blocks or Planter Boxes.   Only one wall can be summoned. Attempting to use the Clinger Staff will replace the existing wall.   Ruthless is the best modifier applied to Clinger Staff for DPS optimization. Sky Fracture, Staff of Earth, and Stellar Tune pair perfectly with the Clinger Staff.   The Clinger Staff deals half its base damage against all worm enemies in combat. It is also an excellent weapon for clearing rooms or keeping a safe distance from threats. Moreover, the Spectre armor set’s bonus will not work.
