The Terraspark Boots are an accessory you can get in pre-hardmode. They are the final upgrade of many boots including the Hermes Boots, Sailfish Boots, Flurry Boots, Dunerider Boots, Lava Waders, and Water Walking Boots.

They provide the benefits of all items used in their crafting tree. They raise your base speed from 15 mph to 34 mph. They are the same as the Frostspark boots but have the benefits of the Lava Waders. With them equipped, you can land on any liquid surface without taking fall damage.

Terraspark Boots stats

All the lava immunity-related items stack with the Terraspark Boots to increase lava immunity by 7 seconds each, up to a total maximum of 42 seconds if you have all the items equipped (the Lava Charm, the Lava Waders, the Molten Charm, the Hellfire Treads, and the Demonic Hellcart).

How to get them

To get them, you have to craft them at a Tinkerer’s Workshop by combining the Frostspark Boots and the Lava Waders.

Frostspark Boots

The Frostspark Boots can be obtained by combining most of the boots you can get in pre-hardmode.

First, you have to get the Rocket Boots. You can buy them from the Goblin Tinkerer. It’s an NPC you can find in the Caverns after defeating the Goblin Army. The first time you find him, he will be tied with ropes, so you have to talk to him to untie him. Then, he will be able to come to live in your world if there’s a house available for him. The Rocket Boosts cost 8 Gold Coins.

Then, you have to craft the Spectre Boots. You can craft at a Tinkerer’s Workshop them using Rocket Boots and other boots including Dunerider Boots, Flurry Boots, Hermes Boots, or Sailfish Boots:

  • Hermes Boots can be found in Chests in the Underground and the Caverns. When equipped, they allow you to gain movement speed after running for a certain distance continuously. Then, the speed continues to increase until a maximum of 40% more than your normal speed. There is an aesthetic effect making you leave a trail of some dust clouds when you run.
  • Dunerider Boots can be found in the Underground Desert, in Sandstone Chests. They increase your movement speed when you’re running on Sand Blocks or Sandstone Blocks up to 53 mph. They also have the same effect as Hermes Boots.
  • Flurry Boots can be found in Frozen Chests in the Underground Snow biome. You can also find them in Frozen Crates and Boreal Crates. They have the same effect as Hermes Boots. The trail you leave when running is made of blue particles.
  • Sailfish Boots can be found in Wooden Crates and Iron Crates. They have the same effect as Hermes Boots, the only difference being that the trail you generate when running is made of water particles instead of dust clouds.
Terraspark Boots Hermes Boots trail

Once you’ve crafted the Spectre Boots, you need an Aglet and an Anklet of the Wind to craft the Lightning Boots at a Tinkerer’s Workshop. To know how to find an Aglet, you can check this article: HOW TO GET AN AGLET FAST IN TERRARIA (FULL GUIDE 2022). To find an Anklet of the Wind, you need to explore the Jungle because it can be found in Ivy Chests, located in Jungle Shrines. You can also find it in Bramble Crates or Jungle Crates.

Now, you just need to find Ice Skates and combine them with the Lightning Boots to craft the Frostspark Boots. You can find Ice Skates in Frozen Chests in the Ice biome. You can also find them in Frozen Crates and Boreal Crates. They allow you to have better mobility when you’re on Ice Blocks. You accelerate faster, slide shorter distances, don’t break Ice Blocks when you fall on them, etc…

Now, the last remaining step to craft the Terraspark Boots is to craft the Lava Waders.

Lava Waders

There are many recipes to craft the Lava Waders. Most of them will require an Obsidian Skull, a Lava Charm, an Obsidian Rose, and Water Walking Boots.

To get an Obsidian Skull, you have to craft it at a Furnace using 20 Obsidian. You can find Obsidian in the Underworld, or you can make Obsidian Blocks yourself by mixing water and lava. Then you just have to mine these blocks to get Obsidian. The Obsidian Skull allows you to avoid taking damage when standing on blocks such as Hellstone Ores or Meteorites Ores.

To get a Lava Charm, you have to explore the lower layer of the Caverns, where lava pools are generated, to find them in the Chests. You can also get it from Underworld-related crates. This accessory grants lava immunity for 7 seconds when equipped.

Water Walking Boots are an item you can find in Water Chests. You can also find them in Seaside Crates or Ocean Crates. They allow you to walk on water and honey. They are rare, and eventually, you will have to create several worlds if you want to find them in the Water Chests located in the Ocean.

The Obsidian Rose is an accessory you can get by fighting Fire Imps. They have a 2% chance to drop it. It’s an accessory reducing lava damage you take from 80 base damage to 35 base damage.

By combining these items at a Tinkerer’s Workshop, you will be able to craft the Lava Waders, which are boots allowing you to walk on all the liquids in the game (water, lava, and honey) and allowing you to stay submerged in lava for 7 seconds without taking any damage. This bonus can stack with other lava immunity items.

Lava Waders Terraspark Boots

Once you have the Lava Waders and the Frostspark Boots, you can just combine them at a Tinkerer’s Workshop to craft the Terraspark Boots.

Terraspark Boots or Amphibian Boots

Terraspark Boots can look like the more powerful pre-hardmode boots you can get. But are they still useful once you enter hardmode and unlock wings? Yes, they are, but there is a better alternative such as the Amphibian Boots.

To get Amphibian Boots, you have to craft them by combining the Sailfish Boots and a Frog Leg (you can get it from fishing). They provide the benefits of these two accessories, meaning they grant the following effects:

  • Your ascend speed is increased by 48%.
  • You can automatically jump while your „Jump“ key is held.
  • You can fall from higher without taking damage. The base height you can fall is 25 blocks, however with the Amphibian Boots, you can fall from 40 blocks without taking any damage.
  • You run faster, up to 30 mph.

The Amphibian Boots are very different than the Terraspark Boots. While they allow you to have better vertical mobility, which can be useful for events or boss fights, the Terraspark Boots seem better for spelunking and exploration through your world. Also, the Amphibian Boots stack with Wings, so once you enter hardmode and unlock Wings, they are preferred. Finally, Amphibian Boots are easier to craft than Terraspark Boots, so it’s a great choice for the very early game.

Terraria Ankh Shield: The best way to avoid debuffs https://avidgamer.gg/terraria-ankh-shield/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=terraria-ankh-shield Fri, 16 Sep 2022 17:07:40 +0000 https://avidgamer.gg/?p=1759 More...]]> Terraria Ankh Shield is one of the best items in the game. It’s extremely versatile, and you can use it for just about any class. Although it doesn’t give any defensive or offensive stats, it makes your life that much easier. The accessory shines when moving around the map, allowing you to avoid all these annoying effects.

It’s hard to explain all the steps you have to take to acquire the item. The process is extremely arduous, and almost all of its ingredients are acquired during Hardmode. We suggest that you don’t focus too much on its creation. Instead, enjoy your playthrough while trying to gather all the components that randomly drop along the way.

Terraria Ankh Shield stats and effects

Here are the item’s basic stats and effects:

Requires Obsidian Shield and Ankh Charm assembled at Tinkerer’s Workshop
TypeAccessory, Shield
RarityLime
Sells for5 gold
EffectsMakes a player immune to fire blocks and knockback
Provides immunity to most debuffs in the game

People who criticize this item often mention the lack of stats. Debuff immunity is universal and can serve in various situations, but it doesn’t increase your defense or offense against bosses. So, depending on what you’re looking for, it’s often better to go with some other accessories.

Despite not being a viable option against someone like Moon Lord or Empress of Light, there are a few situations where Ankh Shield shines. For example, it’s a great choice against Hardmode Brain of Cthulhu. You can also use it as you’re moving around the map to avoid burn damage, poison from hornets, slow from mummies, etc.

Assembling the item

As mentioned, collecting Ankh Shield’s components one by one is a fool’s errand. There are simply too many of them, and you’ll get bored doing it (unless you’re a hardcore RPG adventurer). Instead, it’s much better to focus on improving other equipment, in particular ore-based weapons and armor.

If this is your first time playing Terraria, we suggest that you collect all accessories in the game marked as “Material.” You’ll use some of them to create Ankh, while the rest will serve for assembling other top-tier accessories. For example, you’ll use them for stuff such as Terraspark Boots, Cell Phone, and other cool thingies.

Of course, if you lack just a few components, you can grind them, but there’s no point in pursuing all of them from the start. If you’re still persistent in obtaining Ankh Shield, here’s everything that you’ll need to finish the recipe:

  • Obsidian Skull (requires 20 obsidian pieces assembled at Furnace)
  • Cobalt Shield (Gold Chest or Gold Lock Box drop – 14% chance)
  • Obsidian Shield (Obsidian Skull and Cobalt Shield assembled at Tinkerer’s Workshop)
  • Blindfold (Corrupt Slime, Crimslime, Shadow Slime, Slimeling, Dark Mummy, or Blood Mummy drop – 1% chance)
  • Vitamins (Corruptor or Floaty Gloss drop – 1% chance)
  • Armor Polish (Armored Skeleton or Blue Armored Bones drop – 1% chance)
  • Armor Bracing (Vitamins and Armor Polish assembled at Tinkerer’s Workshop)
  • Adhesive Bandage (Rusty Armored Bones, Angler Fish, or Werewolf – 1% chance)
  • Bezoar (Moss Hornet, Hornet, or Toxic Sludge – 1% chance)
  • Medicated Bandage (Adhesive Bandage and Bezoar assembled at Tinkerer’s Workshop)
  • Nazar (Cursed Hammer, Crimson Axe, Dragon Skull, Cursed Skull, Giant Cursed Skull, or Enchanted Sword – 1% chance)
  • Megaphone (Pixie, Green Jellyfish, Dark Mummy, or Blood Mummy drop – 1% chance)
  • Countercurse Mantra (Nazar and Megaphone assembled at Tinkerer’s Workshop)
  • Trifold Map (Light Mummy, Clown, or Giant Bat – 1% chance)
  • Fast Clock (Mummy, Wrath, Pixie – 1% chance)
  • The Plan (Trifold Map and Fast Clock assembled at Tinkerer’s Workshop)
  • Ankh Charm (Blindfold, Medicated Bandage, Armor Bracing, The Plan, and Countercurse Mantra assembled at Tinkerer’s Workshop)

Most of these pieces drop exclusively during Hardmode. Some of the creatures are really hard to find, which is especially true for Blood Mummy and Dark Mummy. What’s worse, the drop chance for every accessory is one percent. The only positive thing is that you won’t have to kill any bosses.

How good is Ankh Shield?

When playing Terraria, players more often die to burn, poison, and frostbite than to bosses’ physical damage. We often neglect the impact of these debuffs, but they’re the things that get us the most. In that regard, whether or not you prioritize Ankh Shield depends on how you perceive these effects.

Before analyzing the accessory, we need to mention all the things that Ankh Shield protects you from:

  • Confused
  • Silencer
  • Burning
  • Chilled
  • Poisoned
  • Weak
  • Darkness
  • Broken Armor
  • Cursed
  • Bleeding
  • Slow
  • Knockback
  • Fire Blocks

It’s also worth noting that the item’s tooltip is rather deceiving. The developers wrote that the accessory protects you from most debuffs, but, in reality, it provides immunity to less than a half. The wearer can still be affected by Cursed Inferno, Blackout, Frozen, Withered Armor, Venom, Ichor, Electrified, Moon Bite, and Distorted.

We suggest that you use the item when traveling around the world. When you start battling bosses, it’s much better to focus on accessories that increase damage, critical strike, defense, or regeneration.

How good are Terraria Celestial Cuffs? https://avidgamer.gg/terraria-celestial-cuffs/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=terraria-celestial-cuffs Fri, 16 Sep 2022 08:46:39 +0000 https://avidgamer.gg/?p=1741 More...]]> Terraria Celestial Cuffs are a premium mana management accessory. The best thing about the item is that you can find its component quickly during pre-Hardmode. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to assemble it before Hardmode as you need Tinkerer’s Workshop to combine all the pieces.

Terraria Celestial Cuffs are not that great during boss fights. Increased mana pool and restoration are nice, but they don’t do anything to improve your defense or offense. Star pickup range is especially useless in these situations. It also doesn’t help that you need to take hits for the item to be effective.

Terraria Celestial Cuffs stats and features

Here are the item’s basic stats and effects:

Requires Magic Cuffs and Celestial magnet assembled at Tinkerer’s Workshop
TypeAccessory
RarityPink
Sells for3 gold, 20 silver
EffectsIncreases the range of Mana Star pickup
Increases mana reserves by 20
Taking damage restores mana to the character

Celestial Cuffs are primarily a mage item. This is a fantastic accessory when traversing the map, as it provides a lot of sustain. Increases Mana Star pickup range is a nice buff that makes your life slightly easier. On the other hand, the accessory gives you enough mana during prolonged monster fights.

Mana restoration is equal to the damage taken before calculating defense. In other words, taking a strong hit can replenish approximately half of your reserves. Another awesome thing is that you’ll never get less than 10 mana, making the accessory ideal against low-damage opponents.

Keep in mind that this effect doesn’t work on DoTs and drowning damage. However, the item will replenish your reserves when you take damage from a fall. The effect doesn’t stack with Magic Cuffs.

How to assemble the item?

You can find most of the Cuffs components as you’re moving around the world. The majority of them drop from chests or are made from Mana and Life Crystals. The only exceptions are Shackle (drops from Zombies) and Celestial Magnet (sold by Traveling Merchant).

An interesting thing about the recipe is that you can find certain materials in Crimson worlds, while some of them are exclusive to Corruption. In other words, Panic Necklace is a drop from Crimson Heart, Crimson, and Hematic Creates. Band of Starpower drops from Shadow Orbs and can be found in Defiled and Corrupt Crates.

While these are biome-specific drops, you can also assemble them at a crafting station. So, while it might seem that you need two playthroughs to get all the materials, it isn’t actually so.

Finding the components is not that big of an issue, but assembling them is a different story. To combine all these ingredients, you’ll have to use Tinkerer’s Workshop four times. In other words, you’ll have to plan the item’s creation ahead of time, keeping all these pre-Hardmode components in a stash.

Should I use this accessory?

Our main issue with the item is that it’s not as good as some offensive or defensive accessories. For example, Mana Cloak also increases your reserves but also adds to your offensive prowess. Celestial Shell gives you a bit of everything, while Celestial Emblem provides the highest damage boost.

To properly utilize Terraria Celestial Cuffs, you have to continuously take damage. This is the last thing you want as a mage. Of course, you’ll get hit from time to time, but you cannot allow yourself to take several blows in succession.

If we were to recommend a mage build, we would go with Sorcerer Emblem, Celestial Shell, Celestial Emblem, Mana Cloak, and Arcane Flower. In theory, you could replace Arcane Flower with Celestial Cuffs. However, if you’re a careful player or if you’re playing Expert/Master mode, Arcane Flower is more valuable.

Although our analysis might seem condemning, there are situations where Cuffs are an excellent choice. Always remember that killing opponents with magic weapons spawns Mana Stars, which you can use to refill reserves. Because of that, the accessory performs fantastic against minion-summoning bosses and during events.

12 Best mounts in Terraria https://avidgamer.gg/best-mounts-in-terraria/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=best-mounts-in-terraria Thu, 15 Sep 2022 19:38:38 +0000 https://avidgamer.gg/?p=1709 More...]]> The best mounts in Terraria can make your life much easier. These creatures and objects allow you to travel fast and combat enemies. Like in other games, a player is instantly placed on a mount when you summon it. There are 26 of them, and you can dye them for some extra customization.

The fantastic thing about Terraria is that you can use weapons and tools while riding one of these creatures. In other words, you’ll benefit from the movement speed and can still drill deep into the ground and perform various tasks.

12 Best mounts in Terraria

In this article, we’ve reviewed the top 12 mounts in the game. Aside from their stats, we also considered their acquisition method and how quickly you can get them. The list includes Classic and Master Mode items classified from worst to best.

12. Santank (Toy Tank)

Santank basic stats:

Requires Santa-NK1 drop (only on Master mode)
Height12
Speed41
EffectsAutomatically shoots at opponents
The player takes 1 fall damage
Provides double-jump

Santank is one of the best items you can get during the Frost Moon event. Although it’s a high-tier accessory, it doesn’t provide much in terms of jumping and mobility. Its speed is average, and the double jump isn’t anything special. To make matters worse, it only drops on Master mode.

However, we love the fact it automatically shoots at enemies, providing extra firepower to the player.

11. Bunny (Fuzzy Carrot)

Bunny basic stats:

Requires Angler reward after finishing five quests
Height12
Speed39
EffectsEnhanced jump
The player takes no fall damage
Gradually increases speed when running

The reason why we’ve added this item is how easy it is to obtain. You just need to finish five easy Angler quests, and you’ll get it straight away. In fact, there is a good chance that Bunny will be the first item that you acquire from this category.

It’s really fast for early pre-Harmode. It also helps that you won’t have to worry about fall damage. This would give you some leeway with your accessory choices early on.

10. Bee (Honeyed Goggles)

Bee basic stats:

Requires Queen Bee drop
Height654
Speed10 when walking
31 when flying
EffectsNoticeably slower when walking
Provides limited, fast flight and auto-hover
The player takes no fall damage
Dismounts in liquids

Bee is a creature that allows you to fly around during pre-Hardmode. In fact, it might be the best mount during this phase of the game. However, it’s much slower on land, and dismounts in liquids, which can be quite annoying.

There’s a 5% chance for Honeyed Goggles to drop from Queen Bee. So, grinding the item can be a bit arduous. We suggest that you use it with Cloud in the Bottle so you can fly around for a bit longer.

9. Goat (Goat Skull)

Goat basic stats:

Requires Wall of Flesh drop (only on Master mode)
Height39
Speed61
EffectsFast running speed
Provides double-jump
Running through an opponent causes summon damage (at full speed)
The player takes 80% less fall damage

The main issue with this item is that you can only get it on Master mode. However, it’s fairly common having a 25% chance to drop from Wall of Flesh.

Goat gives you the ability to double-jump at a fairly decent height. It significantly reduces a player’s fall damage while damaging opponents when you run through them. All in all, it’s a decent pickup that you can get fairly early in the game. The mount will definitely make your life easier during a grueling Master playthrough.

8. Basilisk (Ancient Horn)

Basilisk basic stats:

Requires Basilisk
Height28
Speed41
EffectsFast running speed and acceleration
Enhanced jump
Provides double-jump
Running through an opponent causes summon damage
The player takes 80% less fall damage

Ancient Horn drops at a 2% rate, meaning that you’ll have to combat Basilisk 50 times until you get this object. The only saving grace is that the opponent is relatively common.

Basilisk has a nice running speed and acceleration. It allows you to run through enemies, making it easier to get from one part of the map to the other. You gain access to the double jump and the improved jump while riding the creature. Although this isn’t as good as having flight, it helps a lot during early Hardmode.

7. Unicorn (Blessed Apple)

Unicorn basic stats:

Requires Unicorn
Height39
Speed61
EffectsFast running speed
Provides double-jump
Running through an opponent causes summon damage (at full speed)
The player takes 80% less fall damage

Unicorn is a replica of Goat. The only difference between the two is the acquisition method.

To get the mount, you need to kill numerous Unicorns (2.5% drop rate), which inhabit Hallow biome on Hardmode. However, there’s a cool trick that would allow you to get the item much sooner. Basically, you can use Unicorn statue pre-Hardmode to spawn these enemies.

After grinding Unicorns for a bit, you’ll get a fantastic mount that you’ll use late into the Hardmode.

6. Scutlix (Brain Scrambler)

Scutlix basic stats:

Requires Scutlix Gunner
Height40
Speed41
EffectsFast running speed
Automatically shoots at opponents
The player takes 1 fall damage

Scutlix is a mount that you can acquire during the Martian Madness event. It has the same stats as Santank, making it a fantastic choice for players who like to run and gun. Unfortunately, it doesn’t offer much in terms of flying, and there’s a good chance you’ll replace it relatively soon.

5. Witch’s Broom (Witch’s Broom)

Witch’s Broom basic stats:

Requires Mourning Wood (only on Expert mode)
HeightInfinite
Speed46 (horizontal speed)
41 (vertical speed)
62 (diagonal speed)
EffectsInfinite flight
Very small
Can’t descent through specific platforms

Witch’s Broom has a few incredible features. Unlike other mounts, it doesn’t change the size of your character. You remain three tiles high, which is the player’s original size, allowing you to maneuver through tight mine shafts.

It is the first item on this list that provides unlimited flight. This is a fantastic feature that only a few mounts have and something you should prioritize when looking for a transportation method.

4. Tree (Hexxed Branch)

Tree basic stats:

Requires Mourning Wood (only on Master mode)
HeightN/A
Speed81
EffectsExtremely fast running speed
Running through an opponent causes summon damage (at full speed)

Tree has the fastest running speed on land out of all the mounts. You can use this summon to quickly go from one end of the map to the next, making it an excellent choice for large worlds. Even better, you’ll damage all the enemies on your path, so you don’t have to worry about a collision.

Unfortunately, there are a few problems with this summon. First off, it’s only available on Master mode, as a drop from Mourning Wood. The same monster also gives Witch’s Broom, which is a more versatile item. Nevertheless, we decided to put it as 4th best mount as there’s simply nothing faster in the game.

3. UFO (Cosmic Car Key)

UFO basic stats:

Requires Martian Saucer
HeightInfinite
Speed41 (vertical and horizontal speed)
58 (diagonal speed)
EffectsInfinite flight
Dismounts in liquids

UFO is an easy-to-obtain item. It has a 16% chance of dropping from Martian Saucer, which means you should get it after playing the Martian Madness event six times. Given that you’ll likely participate in the event several times before finishing the game, you should get the mount by default.

Like all other top-tier mounts, UFO has unlimited flight. It’s excellent against flying enemies, especially if you’re a melee character. The item can also be useful when building structures or doing various tasks on the map. Its only downside is that it dismounts in water and other liquids.

2. Cute Fishron (Shrimpy Truffle)

Cute Fishron basic stats:

Requires Duke Fishron (only on Expert mode)
HeightInfinite
Speed33 (horizontal speed)
41 (vertical speed)
53 (diagonal speed)
82 (when in liquids)
67 (when below 50% health or six seconds after exiting liquids)
5 (upon making contact with a block)
EffectsInfinite flight
The player causes extra damage while in liquids
Slower movement on land

Cute Fishron is one of the few water-focused mounts increasing your damage while in liquids. However, it also performs really well in the air, giving the player unlimited flight.

The mount has different speeds depending on the situation. It gains a slight boost when exiting the water and when a player is below 50% health. This makes it a valuable accessory during tough boss fights. However, if you hit an obstacle, its speed will drop almost to a minimum.

1. Drill (Drill Containment Unit)

Drill basic stats:

Requires Luminite Bar (40), Shroomite Bar (40), Meteorite Bar (40), Hellstone Bar (40), Spectre Bar (40), and Chlorophyte Bar (40) assembled at Orichalcum or Mythril Anvil
HeightInfinite
Speed31 (horizontal speed)
41 (vertical speed)
51 (diagonal speed)
EffectsInfinite flight Prevents players from using items while mounted
Allows mining of tiles

The tricky thing about the Drill is that it prevents you from using weapons and other items. So, you can’t use it for boss fights. Mounts like Cute Fishron or UFO are much more suitable for these situations.

In many ways, Drill is a utility tool that excels at mining ores and other blocks. It is more efficient than any pickaxe or drill in the game, allowing you to collect enormous amounts of materials in a short time span. To make things even better, it doesn’t dismount and has infinite flight.

Aside from collecting ores, this mount is fantastic for destroying the Corrupt, Crimson, and Hallow biome. Although it’s available late in a playthrough, after defeating Moon Lord, it’s an excellent tool that you can transfer to other characters.

5 Best boots in Terraria https://avidgamer.gg/best-boots-in-terraria/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=best-boots-in-terraria Thu, 15 Sep 2022 19:00:56 +0000 https://avidgamer.gg/?p=1664 More...]]> The best boots in Terraria provide a major movement boost. Some of them allow you to glide in the air, further increasing bonuses from wings. Although most players eventually replace them with better accessories, they can be of great assistance when traveling long distances or jumping over chasms.

What’s even better, you can upgrade most of these items as the game goes on. They are especially powerful before getting their first wings.

5 Best boots in Terraria

1. Terraspark Boots

Terraspark Boots basic stats:

Requires Frostspark Boots and Lava Waders, assembled at Tinkerer’s Workshop
Effect Allow player to fly and run really fast while improving movement on ice
8% extra movement speed
Allow player to walk on lava, water, and honey
Provide 7 seconds of immunity to lava, and allow walking on fire blocks. They also reduce lava damage
RarityLime
Sell price15 gold

These are one of the best mobility items in the game and your main focus as you go through the game’s content. There’s a chance you’ll keep them until the very end, at least as a mobility item. Like most other accessories in Terraria, you’ll assemble them from previous ingredients.

The accessory also goes well with wings, further increasing your mobility. They excel in the underground as you start descending toward the bottom. On a few occasions, they might cause you a headache by preventing underwater exploration.

2. Hellfire Treads

Hellfire Treads basic stats:

Requires Lava Waders and Flame Walker Boots assembled at Tinkerer’s Workshop
Effect Allow player to walk on lava, water, and honey
Provide 7 seconds of immunity to lava, and allow walking on fire blocks. They also reduce lava damage
Leaves a trail of fire behind a player
RarityLime
Sell price12 gold

Hellfire Treads are the final recipe for other boot branch. Players rarely buy them, as Terraspark Boots are a much better variation. The only thing that Hellfire Treads have, in comparison to Terraspark, is the fire trail visual effect.

Like all other accessories from this branch, Hellfire Treads are tailor-made for venturing underground. They provide 7-second immunity to lava, and if you combine them with four similar items, you can get a total immunity of 42 seconds.

3. Rocket Boots

Rocket Boots basic stats:

Requires Bought from Goblin Tinkerer for 5 gold
Effect Allow flight
RarityOrange
Sell price1 gold

Although this accessory is somewhat low-tier, the item is excellent when you first acquire it. You can buy them from Goblin Tinkerer for just five gold. In other words, they are available at the start of Harmode as soon as you finish the Goblin Invasion event.

According to the description, this accessory allows you to fly. In reality, this is a short one to two-second long jump. They are fantastic for avoiding fall damage, by pressing jump just as you’re about to hit the ground.

4. Frostspark Boots

Frostspark Boots basic stats:

Requires Lightning Boots and Ice Skates assembled at Tinkerer’s Workshop
Effect Allow player to fly and run really fast while improving movement on ice
8% extra movement speed
RarityLime
Sell price7 gold

Frostspark Boots are one of the two ingredients we use to create Terraspark. The item leaves a nice snowy effect behind when you fly around with them. Most notably, when you start running in a specific direction, they give you a boost of speed that lasts until you stop.

The movement on ice is also a nice benefit. Most people don’t appreciate this characteristic, but it makes your life that much easier within the Snow biome. Unlike Hellfire Treads, Lava Waders, and Flame Walker, they are much better in open areas.

5. Lava Waders

Lava Waders basic stats:

Requires Molten Charm and Obsidian Water Walking Boots assembled at Tinkerer’s Workshop
OR
Molten Charm, Water Walking Boots assembled at Tinkerer’s Workshop
Effect Allow player to walk on lava, water, and honey
Provide 7 seconds of immunity to lava, and allow walking on fire blocks. They also reduce lava damage
RarityLime
Sell price10 gold

Given that this accessory is used to create Terraspark, it makes sense they are noticeably weaker. They don’t have the same mobility and speed, and they don’t allow you to fly in the air. Nevertheless, they are an amazing choice before you can finish the recipe.

Unfortunately, for many players, these are nothing more than transitional items. By the time you get all the ingredients, you’ll probably get something much better. Although the lava protection is still a nice benefit, you’ll likely have several Obsidian Skin Potions in your inventory, rendering the accessory useless.

Just imagine having a +4 armor boost on 5 items you’re wearing. These modifiers can provide a massive increase in defense, offense, and mobility, but unfortunately, most people tend to neglect them.

Spending some money to improve modifiers is an excellent investment. You can reforge almost every accessory in the game, thus gaining a massive boost to a specific stat or a balanced improvement to several.

Listing all modifiers

We can split all accessory modifiers into six categories: Defense, Critical Strike Chance, Damage, Movement Speed, Melee Speed, and Mana. Here is a table for each one of them:

An excellent thing about Terraria accessories is that, unlike weapons, they cannot gain negative modifiers. On the other hand, you can only get a boost to one specific stat. When adding a modifier to an item, you can increase its rarity for up to two tiers.

Approximately 25% of all accessories that drop in the game will start without a modifier. You have to place an item in an equipment slot for an accessory and its modifier to have an impact.

What are the best accessory modifiers in Terraria?

In our opinion, it is hard to determine the best accessory modifier. In most cases, it depends on the character and situation. In certain cases, you’ll need more offense. In others, you’ll want to focus on defense. The choice of modifiers might also vary depending on your base equipment.

If we were to choose just one accessory modifier, we would probably go with defense. It is the simplest, most versatile effect that all classes can benefit from. Even if you’re a ranged character, you can find some value in extra protection. In the end, as long as you’re able to survive the fight, you’ll eventually win, right?

Just to provide some extra clarity, we’ve analyzed each of these modifiers providing a few tips on how to use them. We’ve listed them based on importance, from the best to the worst modifier.

1. Defense

Unlike some other games, explaining defense in Terraria is easy. Basically, this stat reduces the incoming damage by 50% of its value. So, if you have 50 defense, it’ll reduce incoming damage by 25 points (Classic Mode). With accessory modifiers, you can gain 20 defense in total, removing 10 damage from each hit.

Although the impact of defense might not seem as important against regular enemies, it becomes more relevant against bosses. During prolonged fights, you’ll receive numerous hits. The effect tends to stack up over time, and even if you use potions, they might not be enough to survive the ordeal.

Defense is especially great if you have a source of regeneration nearby (like a Campfire). Together with potions, you can eventually overcome even the toughest enemies. Although defense is not as flashy as damage or critical strike, it ensures that you’ll always win (almost always, that is).

Another great thing about this modifier is that all classes can benefit from it. Defense is best for melee class as it makes these characters almost invulnerable. In theory, the damage is better for all ranged characters, but lack of defense can make certain fights incredibly tough.

2. Damage

Damage is another accessory modifier you can’t go wrong with. In many ways, it could be the best stat in Terraria, depending on your class. For example, when playing ranged characters, who are quite elusive, you don’t have to focus on protection. Instead, just ramp up your damage and stomp through the game.

It is worth noting that the modifier works on all sources of damage. This also includes magic spells and minion damage. It makes sense to stack up on this stat, keep your distance, and decimate opponents from afar.

In our opinion, a damage modifier is especially great for experienced players. If you understand boss patterns, you don’t have to worry about the incoming damage as much. Alternatively, if you use an old Hardmode character for a new game, the boost to damage will allow you to quickly finish the content.

3. Critical Strike Chance

Unlike damage, critical strike chance only applies to weapons. It doesn’t impact your magic spells, and it won’t affect the basic attacks of your summons. So, although not as powerful and versatile as the damage modifier, it does provide a nice value. In some cases, you should combine critical with damage for a more balanced offense.

Like in most other games, critical strike chance doubles your base damage. What’s cool about criticals in Terraria is that each of these hits will also knock the enemy back. This makes it a great choice for kiting. In fact, critical strike chance is probably a better choice for ranged characters than plain damage.

This is especially true if we consider that ranged weapons tend to have a higher critical base. In theory, you could continuously knock back opponents as they’re rushing toward you.

The knockback effect on criticals is less relevant and can even be annoying on melee characters. Furthermore, a high critical chance on melee class can work to your disadvantage. For example, it can knock back strong ranged and melee enemies giving them time to reload.

4. Movement Speed

Our main issue with movement speed modifiers is that they don’t have a real combat value. Yes, they are definitely fantastic for kiting enemies around and dodging incoming hits, but they don’t increase your offense or defense. In that sense, they won’t help you complete the game.

On the other hand, they are crucial for running around the map. If you look at things from that perspective, they might be the best modifier in the game, including weapon modifiers. The amount of time you’ll save with movement speed modifiers is ridiculous (up to 20%).

If you’re an experienced Terraria player, you should consider having one set of accessories with a movement speed bonus and one set with combat stats. The most important thing to keep in mind is that movement modifiers from accessories don’t affect your boots‘ cap, thus allowing you to stack them.

Considering all these things, we’ve decided to place them in the 4th spot. Unlike some other modifiers that you might never use, there is always a place in your inventory for accessories with movement speed stat.

5. Melee Speed

Melee speed is such a niche modifier that we had to place it 5th. Although it is extremely powerful for the melee class and can also be used by summoners, the other two classes don’t benefit from it. Furthermore, one-shoting opponents with a high-damage weapon is much better than slicing them several times.

One of the reasons why you should consider using the modifier is because of its synergy with knockback. Each swing with a melee weapon will knock back an opponent, allowing you to stave off hordes of incoming enemies. By having high melee speed, you can rest assured they’ll never be close enough to cause damage.

Then again, as previously mentioned, this knockback effect can also cause some issues depending on the enemy.

6. Mana

In many ways, the mana modifier is similar to movement speed. Although it increases your overall pool, it doesn’t provide that much value in prolonged boss fights. For example, it would be much better to get straight damage. Furthermore, you can compensate for the lack of mana by taking potions.

Another issue with increasing the total mana pool is that certain high-tier spells will drain you immediately. Having that in mind, it’s much better to get items, modifiers, and effects that will boost regeneration instead. Of course, mana is only useful for the mage class, which is another reason why it ranks last on our list.

How to get better accessory modifiers?

Aside from endlessly grinding monsters and waiting for an item with the right modifier to drop, you can also reforge existing accessories. You can perform this process at Goblin Tinkerer, who becomes available at Hardmode or late pre-Hardmode.

You can reforge the existing modifier or add a modifier to an accessary without any. It is also worth noting that there’s an equal chance of getting any of the available modifiers, including the one you have currently.

The service costs 33.33% of the item’s buy value. For example, if an accessory is worth 30 gold, reforging will cost 10. You can also use Greedy Ring or Discount Card to further reduce this cost by 20%.

Interestingly enough, the price of reforging increases or drops based on the quality of your current modifiers. For example, reforging items with bad stats will be cheaper and vice versa. The prices are also affected by the NPC’s happiness.

Guide to Terraria Water Walking Boots https://avidgamer.gg/water-walking-bootsterraria/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=water-walking-bootsterraria Thu, 15 Sep 2022 12:44:24 +0000 https://avidgamer.gg/?p=1587 More...]]> Water Walking Boots in Terarria have a simple and straightforward function. As the name implies, their main purpose is to allow players to move around on liquids without having to worry about drowning.

Basics stats, features, and acquisition

Here are the item’s basic features:

Requires Drops from Ocean Crate, Seaside Crate, or Water Chest (9% chance)
TypeAccessory
RarityLight Red
Sells for4 gold
EffectsAllows walking on liquids (except lava)
Prevents damage when falling onto these liquids

Out of the three compartments, the easiest way to get the object is from Water Chests. These items appear within large bodies of water greater than 250 tiles. To acquire one, you should go to the edge of the map (that is, the Ocean biome). You should find one of these chests at the bottom.

Alternatively, you can find the accessory within Ocean Crates and Seaside Crates. You can get either one of them while finishing in the Ocean. Keep in mind that Ocean Crates spawn pre-Hardmode and Seaside Crates appear on Hardmode.

To make things easier on yourself, we suggest getting a quality Fishing Pole and a high-tier bait. You might also consider using some fishing boosts and potions.

Terraria Water Walking Boots pros and cons

You can easily find this item, and it’s available from the get-go. On rare occasions, these boots can save your life by preventing drowning. They can also be a nice way to prevent fall damage when dropping into the water from a height. The accessory is especially powerful when combined with Obsidian Skin Potion, allowing you to walk on lava.

Unfortunately, this piece of equipment isn’t that great for several reasons. First off, there are much more powerful items in Terraria. Even if you find the artifact straight away, there’s a good chance you’ll give an advantage to some other magical object.

Secondly, being able to walk on liquids is nice and all, but it has limited usefulness. There aren’t that many bodies of water in the game, which makes the feature a bit redundant. Having the ability to walk on honey is even less relevant, especially when we consider that honey is only present in the Jungle biome.

Occasionally, the accessory can even be a hindrance. For example, let’s say you wish to dive into a pond to mine a nearby ore. The item will prevent you from doing so. Alternatively, you might want to dig a hole at the lake’s bottom so that its liquid falls on lava and turn it into obsidian.

As long as this item is equipped, you won’t be able to do either of these things. The truth is, the item has some viability if you’re willing to change it continuously with other accessories. However, this can be a major nuisance, especially during early pre-Hardmode when you’re just looking to progress through content.

Recipes using the accessory

For the most part, this is just a transitional accessory that becomes obsolete rather quickly. You can use it to create Lava Waders and Obsidian Water Walking Boots.

Lava Waders are made by combining previously mentioned boots and Molten Charm. They allow you to walk on just about any liquid in the game. More importantly, you can use them to gain immunity to fire blocks and avoid lava damage for 7 seconds. When the lava eventually starts burning your feet, you’ll receive less damage while wearing them.

Lava Waders are one of the best boots in the game. You can use them to assemble Hellfire Threads and Terraspark Boots, the second which is considered the best item within the category.

Obsidian Water Walking Boots combine the Water Walking Boots and Obsidian Skull. The new item provides the same benefits as the predecessor, adding fire blocks immunity on top of that. These two accessories are somewhat interchangeable, and you can use either one of them to assemble Lava Waders.
